Day 1c In The Bag
Written by Tim Duckworth at 1:58pm
After three solid days of tournament poker, the starting 746 players have been trimmed to just 299.
270 players took to the felt today including Chris Moorman, Clonie Gowen, Jonathan Karamalikis and the Hachem brothers; Joe and Tony, but unfortunately they – along with many others – were not in the 115 that bagged and tagged their chips just moments ago.
888poker was well represented with both Team 888poker members and online qualifiers taking to Day 1c action, but unfortunately the ten starters were culled down to just four. Tyler Bonkowsi is leading the team with a well-accumulated 114,500 in chips while Patrick De Koster (56,000), Yuri Bokkel (32,800), Adrian Marin (30,200) and Denis Murphy (19,000) all still stand a chance.
Make sure to join us tomorrow from 12:30pm where eight members of Team 888poker will be returning to the felt to battle it amongst the world’s best as they all strive to capture the $2 million first prize and title as 2010 Aussie Millions Champion!

Docherty KO’D By De Koster
Written by Tim Duckworth at 12:28pm
Following a raise to 2,000 ahead of him, a short-stacked David Docherty moved all in for his last 8,250 from the button. Fellow Team 888poker member Patrick De Koster announced that he too was all in and the original raiser’s cards flew into the muck.
Docherty: Ac-Qh
De Koster: Ah-Ad
The board ran out 8s-5s-8c-2s-8h to put Docherty on the rail and see De Koster climb to over 35,000 in chips.

On a flop of 8h-Qc-3c Adrian Marin found himself calling an opponent’s all in holding Ks-Kh to be in the lead against As-Qs.

Bokkel Getting Busy
Written by Tim Duckworth at 9:45pm
Facing a raise to 1,225, Yuri Bokkel bumped the action to 2,800 with his opponent making the call.
The flop fell 7h-5d-7s and Bokkel’s 3,500-chip bet was check-called by his opponent before both players checked the 8h on the turn. The river landed the 4s and following a check from his opponent once again, Bokkel fired out a light value bet of 7,000 which his opponent called.
Bokkel tabled his Jc-Jd to rake in the pot and move to 45,600 before taking down a pot worth nearly 9,000 after firing out an uncalled continuation bet into two players on a 4c-6s-10s board.

Hermans Halted
Written by Tim Duckworth 9:31pm
Unfortunately for Ernst Hermans he only managed to enjoy thirty minutes of the current level as his short-stack has succumbed to the felt.
Facing a raise of 1,600, Hermans moved all in for his last 4,300 and was called by the original raiser once the blinds had passed.
Hermans: Ah-Qd
Opponent: Ad-Ks
The board ran out Jh-3h-5h-4c-Kc to see Hermans hit the rail.

Stephen’s Day Done
Written by Tim Duckworth at 7:10pm
Team 888poker member Stephen Day opened to 800 from early position and found two callers to see a flop of Js-5h-10h.
The player in the big blind checked before Day jammed his 6,125 stack into the middle. One opponent made the call as the big blind passed and the cards were tabled.
Day: Kh-Jc
Opponent: Jh-10h
Unfortunately for Day, the turn and river ran out the 4d and 3s to see Day head to the rail prior to making the dinner break.

Hermans Loses Battle Of Blinds
Written by Tim Duckworth at 6:55pm
In a battle of the blinds, Ernst Hermans has been crippled to just 4,800.
Hermans held 8h-8c and following a series of preflop raises he had his opponent all in holding Ad-Ah. The board ran out 10h-Qs-9h-5h-3s to see Hermans crippled as we approach dinner break.

King Bokkel
Written by Tim Duckworth at 6:23pm
888poker online qualifier Yuri Bokkel entered the pot with a raise to 800 before an opponent made it 2,900 to go next to speak. Oliver Gill then put in a four-bet to 10,000 to put the action back on Bokkel.
Bokkel thought for a moment before moving his last 8,250 all in to prompt a fold from the player caught in the middle (who after the hand was over revealed he folded pocket Queens).
Bokkel: Ks-Kd
Gill: Ad-Kh
The board ran out 4c-9s-Qd-10h-Kc to see Bokkel double through to 19,800 in chips.

Qualifiers Patient
Written by Tim Duckworth at 5:48pm
It seems as though Team 888poker member’s David Docherty and Patrick De Koster have decided to follow the trend set by fellow tablemate and Team 888poker member Tyler Bonkowski by picking up substantial pots on the final few hands of the level.
Docherty kicked off the action by calling a 2,000-chip raise preflop and 3,000-chip bet on the turn before leading for 4,500 on the river with the board reading Ah-Qd-5s-2s-4c. His opponent looked him up, but quickly tossed his cards in the muck when show Docherty’s Ad-Kc.
Just a few hands later De Koster led the action on all four streets before eventually putting his opponent Jie Gao all in on the river. Gao made the call, but it would be De Koster’s Ad-Ks for top pair strong enough to take down the pot and eliminate Gao.
That final hand signalled the time to take another break, and consequently provide the updated chip counts:
Tyler Bonkowski – 56,500
Ernst Hermans – 29,000
Patrick De Koster – 27,200
David Docherty – 24,200
Denis Murphy – 23,500
Yuri Bokkel – 10,625
Stephen Day – 7,450
Adrian Marin – 4,200

Tyler Takes One On Break
Written by Tim Duckworth at 4:08pm
With two limps ahead of him, Tyler Bonkowski raised the action on the button to 725 to see a flop of Qd-JcQs three-handed.
Both players checked to Bonkowski who followed with a continuation bet of 1,300. Half his opponents were culled, but Jie Gao stuck around, and when the 8d landed on the turn he checked over to Bonkowski who fired out 2,500. Gao quickly splashed the pot with two yellow 5,000-denomination chips before Bonkowski slid in his whole stack amounting to a re-raise of 22,225 more to Gao.
Nearly seven minutes went past before Gao reluctantly folded his Ad-Qc leaving himself just under 9,500 in chips while Bonkowski soared to just over 47,000 in chips.
As for the other Team 888poker players, here is how they are going:
Tyler Bonkowski – 47,450
Denis Murphy – 22,300
Ernst Hermans – 18,400
Adrian Marin – 17,300
Patrick De Koster – 13,925
David Docherty – 13,375
Stephen Day – 10,225
Yuri Bokkel – 6,125

Tough Tables
Written by Tim Duckworth at 3:42pm
With another player falling to the rail on the feature table it seems as though David Docherty and Patrick De Koster have been joined by Team 888poker player Tyler Bonkowski.
On one of his first hands, Bonkowski opened to 525 and found callers in Jie Gao and Docherty to see a 10h-2h-7h flop fall and a 1,400-chip from Bonkowski produce two folds.
Unfortunately for Adrian Marin, the two empty seats on his table have been filled by Matthew ‘OnMyVPlates’ Pearson and WSOP 2008 Final Tablist Kelly Kim.

Vincente Vanquished
Written by Tim Duckworth at 3:15pm
Adrian Marin entered the pot with a raise to 525 and both Vincente Brotons called next to speak as well as Naz Sibaei from the big blind.
Sibaei checked the 4s-7s-7c flop before Marin fired out 1,200. Brotons called, but Sibaei had other ideas and check-raised to 4,000. Marin passed by Brotons came along to see the Ac land on the turn and a 6,000-chip bet follow from Sibaei.
Brotons made the call and when the river landed the Qd called Sibaei’s all in for his tournament life.
Sibaei tabled his Qh-7h for a full house and Brotons flashed his As-Ks into the muck for a busted flush-draw and two-pair.

Woods Whacked By 8-8-8
Written by Tim Duckworth at 2:55pm
Darren Woods limped under the gun along with another player before Steve Topakas bumped the action to 1,250. Woods called as the player caught in the middle folded to see a 8c-Qh-Js flop fall.
Woods checked the action to Topakas who continued with a 1,600-chip bet in which Woods called. The turn landed the 7s and Woods again checked to prompt a 3,000-chip bet from Topakas. Woods played his check-raise card and pushed his 17,100 stack into the pot which was met with an instant call from Topakas.
Woods: 8s-8h
Topakas: Qd-Qs
Unfortunately for the Team 888poker player no one-outer would land on the river as the Jc fell to see Topakas double as Woods was left crippled with just 525 in chips.
The following hand Woods committed his remaining chips from the big blind holding Jd-9d to be trailing Todor Kondevski’s Ah-10c, and when the board ran out Ks-Jh-10s-Ad-8h, Woods made a quick move to the rail.

Lost But Now Found
Written by Tim Duckworth at 1:32pm
A couple trips around the tournament floor left me still searching for the four 888poker online qualifiers . . . but alas . . . they have been found!
David Docherty is seated alongside Patrick De Koster on the feature table while Adrian Marin and Vincente Brotons are, as the case with a few of the 888poker players, also seated together on table 27.
Finally Yuri Bokkel has also been located and has to contend with the loud and obnoxious Oliver Gill.

Cards In The Air For Day 1c!
Written by Tim Duckworth at 12:30pm
The final Day 1 flight is underway with a bumper turnout of players slowly trickling through the tournament area.
888poker sees nine players wearing the newly revamped bright blue logo, as they look to replicate the feats of Leo Margets, Jeff Fenech and Simon Kidson who all made it through to Day 2 from yesterday’s flight.
Four 888poker online qualifiers are in the field including David Docherty, Marin Constantin, Yuri Bokkel and Vincente Brotons. Team 888poker is represented by Stephen Day and Ernst Hermans who are both seated together and alongside local high-stakes player Jason Gray. Darren Woods has the pleasure of battling it out with Steve Topakas and Todor Kondevski while Tyler Bonkowski has drawn an extremely tough table that features Billy Seri, Andrew Hinrichsen and Kent Hunter. Patrick De Koster is located on the feature table while Dennis Murphy is seated with online sensation James ‘AndyMcLEOD’ Obst.
