Seat 1: Sorel Mizzi – 6,033,000
Seat 2: Stephen Shelley – 991,000

Seat 6: Kosta Varoxis – 635,000
Seat 7: Peter Jetten – 1,700,000
Seat 8: Steven Friedlander – 694,000

An unlikely short day four saw elimination followed by elimination in an action packed afternoon as local players, amateurs and professionals fell to the rail.

Dan Shak, Elliot Smith, Steve Topakas, Joel Dodds and of course Team 888poker member Pierre Aoukar were just a few of the names to exit the tournament, but it is Canadian Sorel Mizzi standing tall above all as he takes a whopping 6,033,000 into the final table – nearly half the chips in play.

Annette Obrestad is another big name taking chips into the final table, and has already improved on her 21st placing in this same event last year and continued her strong form in Melbourne after capturing the Event 4: $1,100 Pot Limit Omaha title.

Online qualifiers and amateurs take up the final six places and tomorrow one player will walk away with the $2 million first prize, coveted Gold Championship Ring and Bracelet and most importantly title of 2010 Aussie Millions Champion.

Make sure to check back to 888BehindTheScenes tomorrow for a comprehensive recap once the final table is complete.

888Poker Announces 8 Ways To Win 88 WSOP Packages

888poker is breaking all the rules, offering members an incredible 8 ways to win one of 88 WSOP packages. Even the most novice of poker players could find themselves in Vegas as 888poker presents a variety of non-poker related ways to get there.

888poker is opening the doors of the WSOP to everyone, with no specific focus on poker-playing abilities, with their latest promotion. Unlike most of their competitors, 888poker has really stepped outside the box, going beyond providing the usual qualifiers and giving members a better chance than ever of actually playing in the world’s most prestigious offline poker event.

Members can win a WSOP package via their choice of no less than 8 different ways, which range from a simple status points race to a refer-a-friend route. There’s a way for tournament lovers, one for those who like the occasional spin on the slots between poker games and another for the hardcore, persistent poker player.

Perhaps the most creative of the 8 ways that 888poker are presenting is SOCIAL SUCCESS, where members have the chance to make it to Vegas on their social networking abilities. Members can upload a video to YouTube explaining why they deserve to win a WSOP package, they can follow @888poker on Twitter, tweeting about how they want a package, and they can become a fan of 888poker on Facebook and follow the fanpage updates.

888poker’s celebrity poker players also come into play in the BOUNTY HUNTER way, where members who knock out WSOP 2009’s Last Woman Standing, Leo Margets or cricketing legend Shane Warne – easily achievable with just one good hand – can go on to play in Vegas this year.

On the back of Leo’s success at last year’s WSOP, where she placed 27th out of 6,000 participants and made over $352,000, there’s also a way specifically for the fairer sex – ONE FOR THE LADIES – which consists of a ladies-only status points race..

2010 signifies a new decade and a new beginning for 888poker, a brand under online expert entertainment group 888.com. The online poker site is redefining its outlook on poker, with 2010 placing a strong focus on promoting the safe, social and fun attributes of the game.

Pierre Aoukar Eliminated In 18th Place ($75,000)
Written by Tim Duckworth at 12:48pm

Pierre Aoukar limped into the pot for 12,000 from the hi-jack only to have Stephen Shelly raise the action to 25,000. Annette Obrestad made the call from the small blind and Aoukar also came along to see a Jc-4s-3s flop fall.

Obrestad checked and Aoukar fired out 90,000 only to have Shelly raise to 200,000. Obrestad tossed her cards into the muck and Aoukar announced he was all in, and pushed forward the remainder of his stack.

Aoukar: Qh-Jh
Shelly: As-Js

“C’mon, just a Queen . . . just a Queen!” screamed Aoukar as everyone pushed up hard on the edge of the feature table.

With the cameras in place, journalists with their pads at the ready and photographers with their lens affixed on Aoukar, the dealer burned and turned the Kd to change little.

“C’mon . . . just a Queen!” screamed Aoukar once again as his cousin Fouad Chaptini vacated his table to cheer on his South Australian counterpart.

Unfortunately for Aoukar, Chaptini, their strong entourage and Team 888poker, the river landed the 5d to see Aoukar eliminated in 18th place for a $75,000 payday.

Congratulations to Pierre for a great display of poker on behalf of Team 888poker!
